Boudoir Teasers for Miss K

A couple of weeks ago, I had a super-fun extended boudoir session with the gorgeous and totally sexy Miss K.  I’d been looking forward to photographing her since she first expressed interest, which must have been over a year ago (we used to work together in fact, back in my waitressing days).  We ended up with a ton of cute photos and I’m excited to be making a sample album of her session in the new year - watch this space!  As well as the regular soft white photos in my boudoir studio, we played around with some studio lighting for a darker, more mysterious look.  I’d love to know what you all think!

As usual with boudoir teasers, the content below is not safe for work, and includes some nudity.  Enjoy!

A Perfect White Christmas Wedding: Rosemary + Ray

Saturday December 20th was my 30th birthday … You may think I’m crazy, but I agreed to photograph a wedding that day, and you know what?  I can’t tell you how happy I am that I did!  Rosemary and Ray had the perfect Christmas wedding, complete with cozy wood fires, candles galore, gorgeous red rose petals and even a fabulous flurry of snow.

The entire event took place at the beautiful Sorrento Hotel on First Hill, and I arrived early in the day to cover Rosemary and her sisters getting ready in the magnificent penthouse suite.  It was fun hanging out with the girls, and watching Erin Skipley work her magic.  Of course, the highlight of the day for me was when Rosemary presented me with a tray of birthday cupcakes - I had to fight back the tears!  They were utterly gorgeous and very tasty (in fact, I’m still working my way through them!)

After a very sweet first look and some family formals in the penthouse, it was time for the ceremony.  It was incredibly emotional and I’m so happy that I caught so many wonderful tear-filled glances from Rosemary to her new husband.  During the cocktail hour, we snuck outside and had a quick play in the snow (freezing cold but so pretty) then it was back inside for the party.

Thank you Rosemary and Ray for a beautiful, warm and emotional evening.  It was also a huge honor being able to work with what can only be described as the A-list of Seattle wedding vendors: Aria Style (who provided the amazingly sumptuous decor - check out all those flowers), Merry Beth Turpin of Aisle of View (she is a phenomenal coordinator AND the most delightful lady to hang out with!), Aaron Horton (videographer extraordinaire and total sweetheart), and my favorite musicians in town, The Michael Benson Band.  I also want to give my assistant/second shooter Fiona a big shout-out - most of the photobooth photos below are her work and she has been an utter delight to work with over the last few months.  Thank you Fiona!  And finally … here are some photos! Be sure to check out the highlights slideshow at the end too. Enjoy!

Snow Dogs!

I can’t get over how amazing this snow is … and what better way to enjoy it than spend some time kicking it at the park with my super cute family.  Yes, this is my hubby Josh, in case you’ve been wondering if he really existed!  And he was looking mighty cute in his gators and woolly hat.  We also made a new friend at the park, the awesome little bulldog in the teaser pics below, Butters.  Thanks to his human dad Scott for letting me take some snaps - and I’ll email over some photos in the next couple of days.

Family Photo Session at the OSP: Katie, Bobby + Family

Wow, do you all remember a time before snow?  It’s freaking me out here, it’s way below zero right now.  Crazy!  Anyway, a long, long time ago, in the Seattle that existed before snow, I met up with Katie and her awesome family for some photos before Katie’s two sisters and their husbands and babies move away from the area.  It was one of those bitterly cold December days, but spirits were high and the pavilion at the sculpture park kept everyone warm between shots - and in fact some of my very favorites from our shoot are of the little ones on the red seat inside.  I love that crazy blue pipe background!

So, without further ado, here are some of my favorites from our session - and Katie and family can log in here to see the whole shebang.  Enjoy!

Snowy Christmas Family Pics: Kari, Chris + Family

This weather is insane!  I have never known Seattle to be so cold, but the snow is gorgeous and it sure makes for some cute photos!  Last weekend I had two family portrait sessions with some of my favorite longstanding clients.  I’ll come back to Saturday’s session with Katie and her family in a few days, as I wanted to start with the snow photos of Kari and Chris and their family.

We met up first at Carkeek Park, but it was closed due to the snow … so we all headed down to Green Lake which was icy cold but utterly beautiful.  They wanted some last-minute Christmas portraits for a gift to their mom, and we got some lovely shots.  Here is the gorgeous Gibson family, and their fabulous husbands and girlfriends and kids.  Thanks for being so amazingly cheerful and upbeat and I hope you all like your photos!

December Nuptials at Discovery Park: Alysia + Philip

Last Saturday, I headed west to Discovery Park for Alysia and Philip’s wedding at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center. Despite the gloomy cold weather, and the fact that the timeline had flown out the window before I even stepped in the door, Alysia was beaming and giggling all day … in fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever worked with such a joyously happy bride!

After a few shots around the venue, I joined the girls at a friend’s house just outside the park to cover their getting ready time.  The atmosphere was great, and I love all the photos of Alysia getting into her dress.  So happy!  Then it was back into the park for some shots of the guys, then straight into the first look.  These are some of my favorite photos of the day - and doesn’t Philip scrub up well?  He too was bubbly and charming all day - they made such a cute couple to photograph!

After a super speedy ceremony (less than five minutes long according to my EXIF data!) there was tasty barbecue for dinner, then speeches, cake-cutting and some beautifully emotional first dances.   The last couple of hours were spent photoboothing - and the booth sure was a hit with this crowd!  Thank you, Philip and Alysia, for including me in your day, and I hope you all enjoy the teaser photos and slideshow!

The Perfect Winter Engagement: Sunshine + Zandro

On Thursday afternoon, I met up with the super cute and very fun Sunshine and Zandro, one of my August 2009 couples.  With a little last-minute planning and a lot of luck, we had a beautiful sunny afternoon to spend in Golden Gardens and the Sculpture Park.  I love Golden Gardens because wherever you go the backdrops are gorgeous - I especially love the sand dunes with the long grasses, and the little patch of trees by the bathhouse is pretty even when winter leaves them bare.

At the end of our afternoon, we headed up to Kerry Park, just in time for the most amazing sunset.  Thank you both for braving the bitter cold - I hope you’ll agree it was worth it!  And here’s something new and exciting: as well as a handful of teaser photos, I’ve also made a little slideshow to ‘Good Day Sunshine’ by Sunshine’s favorite band, The Beatles.  Enjoy!

Vacation Pics Part One: Dorset

I’m finally getting around to sorting through my vacation photos - I actually didn’t use my camera much, as I wanted to take a really good break from work and everything related, but I couldn’t resist taking a few pics of some of my favorite places in the world.

After London, I headed west to Dorset where I grew up.  I spent five wonderful days staying with my best Dorset buddies Alex and Jems, gorging myself on traditional British food (yay bacon butties! Yay Eccles cakes!  Yay cottage pie and stew!) and feasting my eyes on the hills and valleys and cows and sheep that are pretty much the only things I miss about England apart from my people.

Anyway, on a hungover and grizzly Saturday afternoon, I headed out for a hilltop walk on Bulbarrow with my best friends in the world, and sheep-a-plenty.  These photos make me smile …
