Fruitlands Museum Wedding: Nell + Steve Getting Ready

Around a week and a half ago, on a beautiful, sunny Friday afternoon, I headed west to Harvard, MA for Steve and Nell’s wedding at Fruitlands Museum.  Fruitlands is a sweet historical museum set on rollings hills in idyllic countryside and was the perfect spot for this down-to-earth, fun and hysterically funny couple.  It was the shortest wedding I’ve had this season, but also one of the most memorable.  The ceremony, in particular, was incredible … more on that later.

I started the afternoon hanging out in the bridal suite with Nell and her mom and sisters.  Some details to start … I loved the simple, organic theme of the wedding, with green and cream, and I used the ceremony program as a base for the first few photos:

And no, your eyes aren’t decieving you – I really did use the butt cheeks of a small male statue for the rings …  as you’ll see, Nell and Steve are that kind of couple. :)

Nell is wonderfully expressive and ridiculously silly.  Her smile lights up the room, and it was a good place to be.

Once Nell was ready, I headed outside to see Steve, and set up for the first look.  We had a grand total of 35 minutes for the first look and some couples portraits, but the first look is never a thing to be rushed … and I love the expressions in the photos below …

It was really cute watching Nell pin Steve’s boutonniere – one of the benefits of not having a bridal party!

Couples portraits and the amazing ceremony will be along in a couple of days!
