Gasworks and Sculpture Park Engagement Session: Alysia + Philip

I’m busy busy busy right now, finishing up editing a couple of weddings and thinking about packing my bags for three glorious weeks of vacation (wahoo!)  But I had to share a couple of teaser photos from Alysia & Philip’s session last week.

I met with Philip and Alysia and their doggies at Gasworks Park for some “family” shots (and one of their gorgeous doggies decided to go for a quick dip in Lake Union!) then we headed over to the Olympic Sculpture Park just as the sun was setting.  The light was so crazy orange, it was really pretty.  We did a quick tour of our favorite sculptures before heading back home to the warmth.  Enjoy your teasers guys, and thanks for a fun afternoon!

Last Minute Engagement Session: Nathan + Jenna

Last weekend was crazy busy for me - 3 sessions and a wedding!  I won’t be able to blog it all, but I had to post the photos from Nathan & Jenna’s engagement session on Sunday … they’re getting married this weekend!

We all met up at the University of Washington, where Nathan is a geeky post-grad student (he’s in the same field as my husband, so I’m allowed to say that … I think!)  They brought along their awesome dancing doggies, Sam and Sophie, and Jenna’s lovely mom and step-dad who played spectators, cheerleaders and doggy handlers.  It was super fun!  I always get a little nervous when I’m photographing in front of an audience, but it worked out great and it was so nice getting to meet them before the big day.

After lots of fun on campus, we headed over to Golden Gardens, just in time for some moody sun-down portraits.  Good luck guys with your last few days of wedding preparations, and see you on Sunday!

Juanita Beach Park Engagement Session: Andrea + Andy

Last week was a funny one - torrential downpours, gusting winds, that biting cold … and then there was Tuesday.  Ah, Tuesday.  The perfect day for an engagement session with the delightful Andrea and Andy.  They suggested we meet over on the eastside so that they could show off one of their favorite spots, Juanita Beach Park.  It was a little bit windy still, but the sun was warm and golden and the sky was this amazing deep threatening gray.  Gorgeous light, a gorgeous location and two gorgeous and utterly silly people to photograph … heaven!  We spent the bulk of the session wandering around the beach park and the attached bay park, getting a mixture of cute, funny, romantic and goofy shots, then for the last 20 minutes I attempted to get some fun photos of them playing football and tackling each other.  These guys are football crazy!  And of course we had to get a couple of ring shots too - I love the football as a backdrop.  Thanks Andrea and Andy for a very fun afternoon … and thank you Mandy for referring them to me via Andrea’s mom!

UW, Pike Place and Kerry Park Engagement: Melissa + AJ

Last Sunday, I met up with Melissa and AJ for their engagement session.  We started out with glorious sunshine at the University of Washington and had fun playing around in some of my old favorite photo spots as well as finding a couple of new ones.  After an hour or so on campus, we had a lightening fast tour of Post Alley (Melissa loves the red brick and the silhouette in the alley shots) and then up to Kerry Park for a few last photos before sun down.  Oh, and they didn’t *actually* lick the bubblegum wall … although they did come dangerously close … ew!

Melissa and AJ were a ton of fun to hang out with, and I’m super excited for their wedding next summer.  They are taking me on a little tour of Tacoma’s coolest spots and devoting LOTS of time to couple and wedding party pictures - yay!  Thanks for a really fun evening guys, and enjoy your teasers!

South Lake Union Engagement Session: Anne + Peter

Last Tuesday, I met with Anne and Peter, one of my June ‘09 couples, for their engagement session.  They suggested the park at South Lake Union, and honestly I was a bit nervous about it.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE photographing new places … but I’d passed through before and been decidedly unamazed by the teeny tiny new park.

Well, it turns out that the park - and even more so The Center for Wooden Boats, right next door - is an absolute gem of a spot.  There are so many cool features and textures and colors … and it was tons of fun playing around with the boats.  The kind folks at The Center for Wooden Boats gave us pretty much free reign and it was fun picking our favorite boats for the photos.

Thank you Peter and Anne for a very fun session, and for opening my eyes to a great new engagement spot in Seattle.  I owe you!

Engagement in the City: Teryl + Hunter

Almost exactly a week ago, I met up with one of my awesome August 2009 couples, Teryl and Hunter, for a beautiful September evening engagement session.  We started out at the University of Washington for some architectural shots, then headed down to the market at Pike Place.  We were blessed with the most amazing weather, and if I do say so myself, the timing couldn’t have been better.  Look at that gorgeous backlight!  That flare!  And they were both so relaxed and happy in front of the camera, it was a dream.  Happy days …

Greenlake and Gasworks Engagement Session: Jody + Aaron

Last Sunday, I met up with Jody and Aaron, and Aaron’s awesome kids Morgan and Ethan, for a family style engagement session.  We started at The Blue Star Cafe in Wallingford (huge thanks to the staff there for letting us take over the bar for our photo session!) then headed on to Gasworks Park and Green Lake.  They were such a fun family to work with, and the kids were amazing for the whole afternoon.  Enjoy your teasers and see you on the big day in November!

Heather + Gage: Part II

You may remember Heather and Gage from Part One of our engagement session back in early July.  Well, this Wednesday, we headed into Post Alley and onto 1st Avenue to take a few more architectural photos to round off their collection.  It was super fun to see them again!

Post Alley & Alki Engagement Session: Chrissy + Milo

Last Wednesday, I had a super-last-minute engagement session with Chrissy and Milo - I’ll be photographing their wedding this coming Sunday!  We split our session into two parts - first, I showed them around my favorite corners of Post Alley and the market, then they introduced me to Alki Beach (I can’t believe I had lived in Seattle so long without ever visiting Alki!)

Sweet and Sunkissed: Heather + Gage

On Sunday, I went somewhere completely new for Heather and Gage’s engagement session: the beautiful park at Point Defiance, just outside Tacoma.  Heather was my first 2009 wedding booking, but I hadn’t met Gage before Sunday.  It was so much fun hanging out with them and getting to know them!  We’re planning to meet again for some more “industrial” photos around Seattle in August, so this is really Heather and Gage Part One …

The Fourth of July: Hailey + Stan

On July 4th, I met with Hailey and Stan who had traveled all the way from Spokane to have their engagement photos taken!  We met at Pike Place, late morning, where I was expecting it to be cool and calm - I had no idea that the market would be open on such a big holiday, and of course it was crazy there!

UW and Kerry Park: Alycia & Jacob’s Engagement Session

Last Sunday felt like the first sunny day in a very long time … Luckily, I had an engagement session scheduled with Alycia and Jacob, so I got to take full advantage of the amazing blue skies and those beautiful little fluffy clouds.
